Former ANTHRAX singer Joey Belladonna was seen with ANTHRAX drummer Charlie Benante and bassist Frank Bello this past Wednesday (April 28) at the FOZZY concert at B.B. King Blues Club & Grill in New York City, prompting speculation that he is in talks to rejoin the band in time for the group's upcoming "Big Four" shows in Europe with METALLICA, MEGADETH and SLAYER. (Belladonna lives in upstate New York while Benante is a Chicago resident, making it somewhat unlikely that this was simply a chance encounter.) Belladonna also got up on stage and performed a cover version of the RUSH classic "Tom Sawyer" with the Brooklyn, New York-based trio ZO2, which provided support at the FOZZY gig. |

It's Official: JOEY BELLADONNA Rejoins ANTHRAX For Tour, Studio Album
With rumors swirling since ANTHRAX drummer Charlie Benante and bassist Frank Bello were seen together with former ANTHRAX vocalist Joey Belladonna late last month in New York, the band — Benante, Bello, and guitarists Scott Ian and Rob Caggiano — is elated to announce that Belladonna has officially rejoined the band. In his once and current capacity, Belladonna will make his first appearance with ANTHRAX this summer when the band joins METALLICA, SLAYER, and MEGADETH — the "Big Four" founding bands of the thrash genre — to co-headline a series of Sonisphere Festivals in ten European cities, as well as playing a handful of ANTHRAX-headlined shows (itinerary is below). "I am super-excited about this," said Scott Ian. "Joey and the rest of the band came to see me play at a club in New York, I hadn't seen Joey for years, since the end of the reunion tour. Joey taps me on the shoulder, instant big hug, it felt like no time had gone by. The band dynamic is an interesting one — in ANTHRAX, Joey and I spent so many years of our lives together, we grew up together, we know each other so well, so it was like no time was lost." Belladonna, an essential part of ANTHRAX's lineup from 1985 to 1992, sang on some of the band's most popular albums including "Spreading the Disease", "Among the Living" and "Persistence of Time". He had reunited with original members of ANTHRAX for the 2005-2007 "Among the Living Tour", but this situation is different. Explained Belladonna, "I had been in touch with Charlie and Frank, then I got a call from their manager who said that everyone wanted me back in the band. I thought, 'are you guys for real? You want me up there, fronting the band like it was before?' I was thrilled. We've already started to reconnect with the old ways of having conversations. Everything is easy going and feels really good." "We're going to do these summer shows and gel as a band," explained Charlie Benante, "get comfortable playing with each other again, and the energy from that should go right into making new music." Immediately following the final Sonisphere festival in early August, the band will fly back to the U.S. and begin writing and rehearsing for a new album that's expected to be out in early 2011. "We've got an unusual luxury of hindsight," added Ian. "We finished an album a year ago, we've lived with those 12 songs since then, and we can look back on them and see what we really love and what we can make even better, especially with Joey back in the fold." Added Benante, "There are five or six songs from a year ago that we don't want to change, we love them the way they are, other than having Joey making them his own with his vocals. Then there's another five or six that we may want to rework, and then there are a bunch of other tunes that are still in the early stages, that we want to finish. "The band has been on an emotional roller coaster since last summer," Benante continued, "but I think everything that we've had to deal with during that time was pushing us toward this, to Joey being back in ANTHRAX, and the timing couldn't be more perfect or appropriate. To have Joey with us playing these shows with METALLICA, SLAYER and MEGADETH is the way it should be — as ANTHRAX's vocalist from '85 to '92, he was part of the 'Big Four.'" "John was a real stand-up guy about the situation," said Ian, about John Bush, ANTHRAX's vocalist from 1992 to 2005 and for some of ANTHRAX's most recent live shows. "He knew we wanted to move forward at full speed, that we needed a total commitment to ANTHRAX, and he knew that wasn't what he wanted. We certainly wish John well. We've had so many great times with him, and we appreciate his stepping in last summer at the last minute, and performing with us since then. He will always be an integral part of the ANTHRAX family." With worldwide sales in excess of 10-million, ANTHRAX is about to celebrate its 29th year as a band. Over its career, ANTHRAX has received multiple gold and platinum albums, multiple Grammy nominations, and a host of other accolades from the press, industry and fans. Datume turneje sm nalimal zato, če bo kdo slučajno za, da si jih gremo ogledat samostojno na Dunaj, k na Sonisphere vrjetn ne bodo igrali celega seta.
O novem studio albumu z Belladono malce dvomim, ampak vseeno upanje umre zadnje. |

Zakaj bi sploh upali na album z njim, itak se nebo zgodil, sicer mi je pa že od nekdaj vseeno kaj nabija dvoobraznež Ian, ki je dosaden še bolj kot vse, kar so naredili Anthrax od 1993 White Noise naprej...Poteza je pa logična, itak jih nihče nebi gledal na SS festih, če nebi pripeljali Joeya nazaj...

Naslov članka je: Bolj smešni kot Spinal Tap in bolj neprijetni kot Manowar. (na hitro prevedeno; nekateri izrazi so v nemščini bolj sočni in tu malo izgubijo na pomenu) 1. Potem, ko jih 5 let ni bilo nikjer, so se Anthrax leta 2003 uspešno vrnili z albumom We've come for you all 2. Scott Ian v enem intervjuju pravi, da so pred leti Joeya Belladonno odpustili, ker je njegov vokal preveč limitiran. 3. Antraxh z Bushem na novo posnamejo Belladona komade in jih izdajo na albumu The Greater od two evils. 4. »zaradi močne zahteve fanov« Anthrax začnejo »enkratno« turnejo z bivšim vokalistom Belladonno. Da ne bi imel slabe vesti bandšef Scott Ian pred tem vpraša Johna Busha, če nima želje, da bi na turneji pel skupaj z Belladonno. Bushu je ideja neumna in gladko zavrne. 5. Enkratna turneja se ne konča in traja, traja, traja… 6. Anthrax odpustijo Johna Busha. Nekako istočasno Spinal Tap nastopijo v Londonu na Wembleyu in napovejo nov album. 7. Joey Belladonna, na katerega je Scott Ian polagal velike upe, spet odide iz benda. 8. Po govoricah absolvira Scott Ian z enakomislečima JoeyDeMaiom in Jonom Schafferjem retorični tečaj o »sladkem govorjenju«. Istočasno prebere knjigo Gerogea Orwellsa 1984. Pri tem je kitaristu najljubši del tisti knjige, kjer je prava preteklost ven potegnjena iz knjig in časopisov, tako da se lahko zgodovina drugače interpretira od dejanskega stanja. 9. Scott Ian je vedno govoril, da je John Bush najboljši! To začne govoriti v medijih. Na kratko: Anthrax želijo nazaj Johna Busha. Njegov odgovor je kratek: NE! 10. Scott Ian začne na veliko hoditi po koncertih in VIP partijih, kjer obupan z vreščečim glasom številnim in nedolžnim gostom ob prigrizkih in na WCju razlaga: »nujno rabimo novega pevca«. 11. Eden izmed njih se ga usmili: Corey Taylor iz Slipknot in Stone Sour pokaže zanimanje za Anthrax. Scott Ian se začne na veliko veseliti: »Yeehaw, to je briljantna rešitev.« Vendar ko se Corey Taylor naslednji dan prebudi, ga stvar ne zanima več in reče: NE! 12. Anthrax nato v javnosti začnejo razlagati, da je Joey Belladonna super dečko in da je za mikforonom prava granata. Nazaj ga hočejo v bend, a Belladonna reče: NE! 13. Anthrax najdejo nekoga po imeni Dan Nelson in začnejo po celemu svetu medijem razlagati, da je to nor pevec in tudi kot osebnost pravi tip za bend. Na kratko: Anthrax imajo idealno zasedbo. 14. Dan Nelson odpoje album z naslovom Worship Metal. Poleg tega na veliko daje intervjuje. Bistvo vsega tega: Scott in Dan sta najbolj sladka združitev odkar je človek izumil čokolado. 15. Anthrax odigrajo nekaj koncertov z Danom in potem se idealni član kar naenkrat odleti iz benda. Dan to izve pred medijev. 16. Worship Metal ne izide. 17. Scott Ian se začne motati okrog Johna Busha. Preko cvetličarja mu pošlje šopek s posvetilom »ne pozabi me« in desetkilogramski paket milka čokolade. 18. John začne boleti želodec, pojavijo se špekulacije o njegovem povratku – vsaj pri Ianu. 19. Kar naenkrat se pojavi novica, da se je John Bush vrnil k Anthrax. 20. Anthrax se uspe »uštuliti« med velike štiri in napovejo turnejo z Metallico, Slayer in Megadeth. 21. Na turneji bo pel JB. 22. Maja 2010 se izkaže, da je JB krajše za Joey Belladonna. V trenutku uradne najave tega imena vsi JB feni histerično navalijo na JB (Jim Beam) in ostalim alkoholnim ekstraktom. 23. Scott Ian vse bolj pompozno najavlja svoje simpatije do Joeya Belladonne. » Joey me je objel za ramo in zdelo se je, kot da nikoli ni bil izven benda.« Ta čudoviti stavek je izvabil solze na oči številnim metalcem širom sveta. Pri 98% »jokicah« se je izkazalo, da so bile to solze smeha. 24. Anthrax najavijo nov album z Joey Belladonno. 25. Arheologi se odpravijo na ekskurzijo. Cilj potovanja je prazgodovinski: Najti človeka po imenu John Connelly, prvega Anthrax pevca. Kdo ve, mogoče bodo pa tudi njega še kdaj potrebovali. Na koncu poglejmo še v vsekakor svetlo prihodnost: Joey Belladonna odpoje album, ki vsekakor nima nič skupnega z materialom od Nelsona. Anthrax pridejo do zaključka, da Joey vokalno nikakor ni dozorel in da ni na nivoju dobro odpeti album. Scott Ian na neki zabavi naključno naleti na Dana Nelsona. Z ostrim pogledom »ti si bil od vedno idealna rešitev za bend« ga povabi proti izhodu. Po obsežnem in zelo odprtem pogovoru se Scott Ian odloči izdati Worship Metal. Armored Saint nato prenehajo z delovanjem. Scott Ian na zabavi naleti na Johna Busha. »Ah, John, tak idiot sem bil. Ti si od vedno daleč najboljši. Počakaj samo malo, mobi mi zvoni. A, Worship Metal bomo izdali še enkrat. Z Neilom Turbinom na vokalu. |

Za Anthraxe bi bilo najbolje, da razpadejo. Ali pa da ruknejo vn Iana in se bend vrjetno bolj skuliral. Zaenkrat pa so Anthrax totalni nesmisel.

O Big 4, kjer itak niso imeli kaj iskati.... Ian: Amazing. Probably the best shows I've ever played. It was just the most fun, to get to be a part of it. The four bands together for the first time; not even the fact we were playing together, but physically hanging out. The night before the tour, we had a dinner that METALLICA put together. Even that was just the first time the 17 guys were together. Even if you broke it down from the guys who were there in 1983, we all had never been in a room together. Separately. It was just an amazing moment. It was like, "Holy shit, can you believe we get to do this? People care so much after all these years." It's a really gratifying and humbling moment: "Wow, we're going to walk on stage in front of 100,000 people in Poland." Ja, res se je komu šlo za njih... In kak nakladač, vedno doda vsaj pol resnice...oni so igrali pred največ 40 000 folka, ker je bilo pri njih še pol prazno (tribute čisto), na samem koncertu pa je dejansko bilo 80 000...bebec... |

Po pravici povedano ni bogve kaj album.
Joey prinese sicer nekaj "svežine" in je edini element ki vsaj malo rešuje album, vendar manjka precej drugih stvari. Refused cover mi je pa malo mimo. A ne bi morali ravno Refused narediti cover od Anthrax, ne pa obratno?! |

Ni lih več NY thrash metal "atz itz zelf", zato pa ne pomeni, da "ni ok".

Mi pač ni všeč. Fistful Of Metal mi je totalno zakon, potem gre pa samo še \. Torej sploh nisem pravi Anthrax fan in lahko komot spregledaš moje mnenje.

POSLUŠAM ZADNO PLATO!!!! sm jo ignoriral, ker so mi šli na kurac, ker je Belladona in ne Bush.... Men je Joey ful sedu na stare plate in k je Bush uletu 1993 so mi bli dost mim...sam pol sm se jih navadu in ravn, k so mi 2003 ratal top shit, je šou iz benda..... (FUUU
pol mi je en cajt sedu Belladona v bandu tko za obujanje spominov - na kempu 2005 so mi bli kr kul, samo so mi bli bolši, ko sm jih vidu z Bushem 2001. Pol pa k se je govoril, da nov pevc uletava sm bil sam uno BUSH, BUSH, BUSH.....pol sm zvedu, da je Joey nazaj uletu pa sm bil uno FUUUU  pol sm bil pa tolk bedn, da sm jih kar ignoral.....no, sam zanč sm si vseen dol potegnu in morm rečt - da je po skori 2 letih skrajni čas, za nakup CDja!!! Meni so Anthrax z Belladonno ok, tu pa tam izvrstni, Belladonna ima dober vokal, a z Bush-em ni primerjave. Tak glas, kot ga premore John, ni dosegljiv, poglejte si v youtube praznovanje Metallic-e, ko z Bush-em zaigrajo Four horsemen.
By the way: Armored saint so itak boljsi od vseh, tako da... vsakemu svoje :D

Zanimivo, meni pa ravno Armored Saint niso bili nikoli preveč zanimivi. Glede Anthrax pa: Neil Turbin na prvi plati je zakon.

čudno in zanimivo, kar pišeš, vedno sem te bral kot first in line heavy metalca, zato bi bil rekel, da so ti AS špica… Sicer ne vem, če ti ugaja takozvani ameriški heavy metal iz osemdesetih let, ki ni bil thrash, je pa mejil nanj, v katerega jaz uvrščam vicious rumours, armored saint, malice, exxplorer… to ni bilo gibanje zase, so pa bile kvalitetne skupine izven dualizma thrash-glam, kvalitetno pa na visoki ravni. Vračajoč se na Anthrax, meni je Belladonna dober dude, za Anthraxe pa ima prenežen vokal, sam je fan Journey in takih bandov (kar meni ni noben problem, sam cenim tudi take prijeme), da smo si na jasnem, njegov vokal v Scottovem bandu je na visoki ravni, izpade pa mi nekam forsiran, ker mora izpasti bolj agresivno, kot sam ne premore. Ne eksplodira, ne odpre na visokih. Ko bi pel v kakem mehkejšem in bolj melodičnem hard rock bandu bi bolje izpadel, ker bi lahko vlagal v melodije in manj v agresivnost, ki je ne izraža. Pa še zamorjen je, neduhovita (sicer simpatična) pojava in karizmo dolguje bolj nekemu zunanjemu videzu kot pravi komunikativnosti. Ima pa srečo, da je histori čni pevec Anthraxov in to mu vsi priznavajo. Ko bi Bush bil historični pevec Anthraxov, bi to bil najbrž number one thrash band. Da ne govorimo o Metallici, katerih mi je Hetfield bil super pevec do pete plošče, a si predstavljate, da bi takrat Bush vstopil vanje? Danes bi imeli neoporečen vokal v Metallici, Bush udira danes kot na njegov day numer one. Sicer bi ne imeli Saintov, torej konec dobro, vse dobro. PS: kako da ti ne ugajajo AS???? Kriminalno podcenjen band… že sam drugi album je po mojem bil na ravni enega Ride the lightning, kaj šele potem en Symbol of Salvation… |

Armored Saint mi niso nič posebnega in od teh "ta znanih" tudi Iced Earth nič kaj preveč (druga plata še najbolj). Od ameriških so mi, med drugimi, tile zakon: Attacker, Axehammer, Cauldron Born (sick prog power), Chastain (naj ženski vokal), Dofka (proggy), Glacier, Hawk, Hexx, Hittman (super prva plata), Leatherwolf, Liege Lord (odlična tretja plata), Matthias Steele (sick), Medieval Steel, Omen (legendarni), Sacred Blade (kasneje Othyrworld), Phantom Blue (babe), Pharaoh (novejši), Powermad, Racer X, Radakka (novejši), Ravage (novejši), Recon, Sacred Oath, Saint (zakon), Steel Prophet (super), Talisphere, Titan Force (prog), Winters Bane (Ripperjev bend pred J.P.) itd.
