Overtures is a melodic heavy metal band born in Gorizia in June 2003. The original line-up was composed by Marco Falanga (guitar), Daniele Piccolo (guitar), Luka Klanjscek (bass), Marko Klanjscek (drums) and, after a few months, Michele Guaitoli (voice). Overtures' first concert was in September 2003. From the first months of 2004 Overtures jumped into the local scene preserving a constant quantity of live concerts in pubs, clubs, festivals and public shows. Since 2005 the band have been mostly engaged in composing original songs and in running both national and local contests, obtaining good results and being awarded different times.
In May 2005 Overtures recorded their first studio demo-CD with Andrea Rigonat (Elisa Toffoli’s guitarist), containing three original songs: Hidden Treasures, Town of Desolation and Silent Observer. The recordings were lately completed during September 2005 at Filippo Massa and Irene Pehlijan's private studio in Triest, with a complete re-mastering. Reviews of the CD are available on this website. During summer 2006 Overtures started to record their first full-length album, containing eight original songs: Beyond the waterfall, Toy, Faded Dream, Town of Desolation, Silent Observer, The Self-Pitier, A Time of my Life and Hideout, for a total length of about 40 minutes. In May 2007 Overtures signed a contract with Videoradio, Italian label of artists such as Andrea Braido, Faso-Meyer-Menconi (from Elio e le storie tese) and other relevant Italians. Videoradio released Overtures' debut CD, entitled "Beyond the waterfall", in July 2007 in stores in Italy and worldwide on iTunes. After a few times and a collaboration between Videoradio and Believe SAS, “Beyond the waterfall” was also released on the main digital distribution channels. Reviews of the CD are available on this website.
In August 2007 Overtures had their first change of line-up: due to some personal problems Marko Klanjscek choose to leave the band. His place has been taken by Andrea Cum, ex "Fear no Evil" and "Dagh".
In July 2008, even if after one year from the Italian release of the album "Beyond the waterfall", Overtures got in touch with Rock it up records and signed with the German label a contract for the worldwide distribution of the CD. As a consequence of the Rock it Up Records deal, Overtures started a set of promotional shows both in Italy and Europe, playing in different Italian cities and in Holland, Austria, Switzerland and other European countries. Songs taken from the album "Beyond the waterfall" have been inserted in different European and Italian compilations and broadcasted in many radio programs in Italy, U.S.A., Germany, England, Portugal and Brazil.
Concerning the live activity, other than the promotional concerts for the album "Beyond the waterfall" and some shows at local festivals, in 2008 Overtures also featured as opening act in some dates of Elvenking's "The Scythe tour" and played at the tenth edition of the Morarock Festival, sharing the stage with the already mentioned Elvenking and White Skull, Skanners, Vision Divine, Extrema e Primal Fear. Previously the band had already played with Sinestesia, Lincoln Quartet ft. Clive Bunker (first Jethro Tull's drummer), Delirium, New Trolls, Children of the Damned ft. Paul Di Anno (Iron Maiden's first singer), Domine, Tystnaden, Beer Bong, Eldritch, Mr.Pig.
